Bisacodyl is a laxative.
It causes irritation of the receptor apparatus of the intestine, has a direct effect on the intestinal mucosa, enhancing its repellent and increasing mucus secretion in the large intestine.
The action occurs within an hour after application.
Not absorbed in the intestines. It is a prodrug, in an alkaline medium, hydrolysis occurs with the formation of a metabolite that has an irritating effect on the gastrointestinal mucosa.
- Constipation due to hypotension of the colon and flaccid peristalsis of the colon (including in elderly patients, after surgery, childbirth).
- Regulation of stool with hemorrhoids, proctitis, anal fissures.
- Preparation for surgical operations, instrumental and radiological studies.

The use of high doses or prolonged use of bisacodyl can lead to the development of intestinal atony.
Joint use with antacids can lead to premature dissolution of the enteric coating of the drug and irritation of the stomach and duodenum.
It is not recommended to be taken simultaneously with milk and alkaline mineral water.
How to take, course of administration and dosage
Bisacodyl tablets are taken orally before bedtime, regardless of the time of a meal.
The tablet should be swallowed without chewing!
Dose for adults: 1-3 tablets (5-15 mg) at a time.
With insufficient laxative effect, the drug is taken additionally the next morning - 1-2 tablets (5-10 mg).
Dose for children over 6 years: 1 tablet (5 mg).
Ingestion of a chewed tablet causes irritation of the gastric mucosa and abdominal pain.
Symptoms: diarrhea, dehydration, impaired water-electrolyte balance, hypokalemia, atony of the colon.
Use the drug with caution in pregnant and lactating women, in patients with liver and / or kidney diseases, as well as in patients with suspected inflammatory bowel diseases.
Do not use the drug for more than 7 days without special instructions from a doctor.
