Lactobacillus casei is a species of gram-positive rod-shaped anaerobic non-spore-forming bacteria.
Lactobacillus casei is a normal obligate flora of the oral cavity, intestines, vulva and vagina of a person.
Lactobacillus casei, along with other species of lactobacilli (L. acidophilus, L. fermentum, L. cellobiosum, etc.), are present in the normal flora of the woman’s vulva and vagina. Vaginal colonization with live rods of L. casei rhamnosus Doderleini creates a similar physiological environment in the vagina. The strain L. casei rhamnosus Doderleini in the Lactozhinal® preparation has antagonistic activity against a wide range of pathogenic and opportunistic bacteria (including Staphylococcus spp., Proteus spp., Enteropathogenic Escherichia coli), improves local metabolic processes and helps restore natural local immunity.
When a capsule of the Lactozhinal® preparation is inserted into the vagina, the gelatin shell of the capsule dissolves with the release of a lyophilized culture of live lactobacilli. In vitro, L. casei rhamnosus Doderleini has been shown to lower pH within a few hours. The indicated property of L. casei rhamnosus Doderleini with the introduction of the drug into the vagina helps to restore its natural microflora.
Lactobacillus deficiency is one of the important factors in the development of candidal vulvovaginitis. Lactobacilli are physiological antagonists of yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida due to the secretion of antifungal substances and competition for receptors on vaginal epithelial cells (suppress the attachment of Candida to vaginal epithelial cells, inhibit their growth and reproduction).
The results of a clinical study showed the efficacy of Lactozhinal® in restoring normal vaginal microflora and preventing recurrent candidiasis of vulvovaginitis when it is used after completion of antifungal therapy.
- restoration of normal vaginal microflora after antibacterial therapy of bacterial vaginosis;
- in preparation for the planned gynecological operations;
- during prenatal preparation of pregnant women at risk for bacterial vaginosis.
Prevention of relapse of vulvovaginal candidiasis (including exacerbation of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis) after local and / or systemic therapy with antifungal drugs.
Pregnancy and lactation
Perhaps the use of the drug Lactozhinal during pregnancy and lactation (breastfeeding).
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
- Vulvovaginal candidiasis ("thrush").
- Children under 18 years of age (efficacy and safety not established).
Allergic reactions (including itching, burning, redness in the genital area; increased mucous discharge from the vagina).
The use of the drug with spermicidal agents is not recommended.
Possible simultaneous use with antibacterial, antiviral and immunomodulating drugs.
No clinically significant cases of interaction have been reported.
How to take, course of administration and dosage
Method of application - intravaginally.
Introduce the capsule deep into the vagina, moistening it in a small amount of water to accelerate the dissolution of the drug.
Restoring normal vaginal microflora after antibiotic therapy of bacterial vaginosis: one capsule in the morning and evening for 7 days or one capsule daily for 14 days.
In preparation for planned gynecological operations, prenatal preparation of pregnant women at risk for bacterial vaginosis: one capsule in the morning and evening for 7 days or one capsule daily for 14 days - as part of complex therapy.
The dosage regimen should be adjusted depending on the severity of the clinical effect.
Prevention of relapse of vulvovaginal candidiasis (including exacerbation of recurrent vulvovaginal candidiasis) after local and / or systemic therapy with antifungal drugs: 1 capsule per night. The duration of drug therapy is determined by the doctor. The course of treatment should not exceed more than 21 days. The question of conducting repeated courses is decided individually.
Overdose cases not registered.
After administration, the capsule dissolves without leaving stains on the laundry or odor.
The drug is intended for use in women over 18 years of age.
