It has a sedative effect, has a moderate reflex vasodilating effect, due to irritation of the sensitive nerve endings.
It stimulates the production and release of enkephalins, endorphins and a number of other peptides, kinins (due to irritation of the mucous membrane receptors), which are actively involved in the regulation of vascular permeability, the formation of pain.
When used sublingually, it is absorbed from the oral mucosa. After absorption, it is biotransformed in the liver and excreted by the kidneys in the form of glucuronides.
